Final Essay
I would describe South Central today as FUN, I love South Central here I grew up and have met my long life best friend. Sure its poor, dirty, and violent, but if you look at the bright side you learn to survive. South Central is full with my people black and Latinos. That is the best part of South Central get to be a Chicana with many Chicanos !QUE VIVA LA RAZA! =) Also the smell of South Central is the best you can smell all types of food Mexican food, Salvadorean food, African American food and you can also smell wood form factories and auto shops its just home to me not a perfect home, but a home. =) The three most important events that had the greatest impact on making South Central, LA what it is today are LA Riots, Crack Epidemic, and Immigration.
The LA riots made South Central what it is today because it marked the landmark new buildings were made a new life began, a life me and you live in now. The LA riots began in 1992 after a couple of cops were found “NOT GUILTY” of beating up, and harassing, a young man named Rodney King during his arrest of speeding. The man Rodney King did nothing to deserve this horrible treatment during an arrest and for that people were tired of police brutality, the anger exploded more when a young girl Latasha Harlins was killed. Latasha Harlins was killed by a cashier at liquor store supposedly Latasha was stealing an Orange Juice and so the cashier shot her. Injustices like this happen daily in South Central and the LA Riots were so important because it shows to prove that we are humans we have a voice and wen can demonstrate when we are tired of injustices like police brutality and that is why La Riots are important we were heard for change. =)
The second event that made South Central what it is today is Crack Epidemic, Crack Epidemic is the most shocking event in LA history. To begin crack/cocaine is a short high, followed by tiredness, depression, panic, anxiety, and brain damage to user it is also highly addictive. Crack was sold to ghettos in the U.S. in order to get money to pay for weapons. They sold crack to ghettos to payoff weapons the U.S. gave to Nicaragua so they can fight of SANDISTAS a communist people wanting to change Nicaragua and the U.S. didn’t like that and helped Nicaragua. The Crack changed many people her in South Central it cause crime rates to go high, changing South Central to have crime like today. Crack led to families being broken up many homeless people the ones you find today. As you can see the U.S. caused South Central to have crime, to be poor, to be feared, to be unaware. Crack was an important evnt that led to many effects South Central has today.
Immigration is the third important event that made South Central to be what it is now. Immigration has a lot of variation of people involve like Mexican, Salvadorean, Colombian, Guatemalan, and many more. In South Central you will find many Latinos and African American living in the same community, immigration was the benefit for South Central to have many great people not all , but some great people living in it. Many people immigrate to the U.S. because of money, wars, trouble, future, opportunities, South Central gives them the opportunity to have a home like me. Immigration is really important because it brought almost all the people that live in South Central now including my best friends making it the place that it is now. =)
Overall the three events brought each other t o benefit and make South Central what it is today. The LA riots cause homes to be build and more homes available for people although a lot of money was invested in South Central. The money lost made people want to work and a job available and simple was to sale drugs and the U.S. took advantage and sold cocaine. The War in Nicaragua made people immigrate to the U.S. and other countries as well. As you can see these three events connect in making South Central the best. MY HOME SOUTH CENTRAL =)
